Entrepreneurship – Here I come!
I’ve worked in corporate America since I graduated from college. I am consistently a top performer and average promotion about every year and a half. I would certainly characterize myself as successful.
I’ve been with the same company for the last 10 years, and have had the opportunity to witness a ton of growth and change. We’ve been acquired. We acquired ano
ther company ourselves. We sold off a part of the company. I’ve weathered several reorgs and had 10 different bosses. I’ve helped onboard nearly 100 sales professionals. Most people wouldn’t stick around for that kind of change unless they loved it and I do!
You see, I am mission motivated and my company’s mission is to make the world a better place through education! When I’m passionate about something, I will work endlessly, stepping out of my comfort zone and pushing others around me to be successful too. I’m not sure my colleagues would describe me as the maternal type; however, I think, if they took a step back, they’d realize that is exactly what I am. It’s just a little tough love because I believe in their potential for success so incredibly much!
While I love my corporate job, I also believe I’m destined for more. Helping others feel confident, passionate, motivated, and successful is my purpose. Sometimes it’s a little tough love, other times is a great big hug – but I feel most satisfied when my success is connected to the success of others.
I also want to lead a business. Over the last few years, I’ve sat in one on one meetings with the leaders of my company (from CEO to my direct managers) and communicated how much I wanted to be mentored to lead an entire organization. I was essentially waiting in line for the opportunity to do so. Meanwhile, investing in my own personal and professional development so I would be ready when they were. But wait, why am I waiting for them to be ready for me?
I am ready now!
A friend introduced me to an opportunity back in February. If I’m honest, I’m not entirely sure why I said yes at the time but three months later, I am so glad I did. I’ve found a place where I can lead a team of women. My business is about motivating women to feel beautiful and confident. Every day I help someone else realize their potential and chase their dreams. I’ve also found a group of like-minded women who didn’t wait for the world to be ready for them!
The only perfect time is now! So it is with great pleasure that I announce the launch of With Love, Grits!
I’d love for you to join me as I navigate this fun new adventure. Your support and encouragement are all I need and I can’t wait to show you more!
